Mandatory steps for business registration in Oman
Registering a business in Oman is a multi-step process that commences once the investor chooses a suitable legal form. The local company registry is the Oman Business Platform, the recipient of the documents required to register a company in Oman.
Those who start the process for a new commercial registration will complete the following steps:
- Choose the business form. Options include: the limited liability company, the joint stock company (closed or public), partnerships, or a foreign company branch, among others;
- Select the business name and check if it is available for use. This can also be completed as part of the services offered by the Omani authorities (see below);
- Prepare the company’s constitutive documents. These depend on the chosen business form, but will generally include the Articles of Association and the founder’s documents;
- Enter the business into the registry. During this stage, you will actually register a company in Oman, as it will be recognized by the authorities.
Documents submitted for company registration in Oman
Registering the company with the authorities can only be completed if the following documents are properly prepared and submitted. The following list includes some of the required documents in the case of a limited liability company:
- The Articles of Association (the company’s constitutive documents);
